A Soundscape is a separate audio experience designed to play alongside a book or audiobook.
It adds original music, environmental ambience, and sound effects that follow the events, settings, and mood of the story.
For example, while listening to a fantasy audiobook, you might hear the atmosphere of a forest, distant weather, the movement of footsteps, or music written to support a particular scene.
A Soundscape does not include or replace the audiobook narration. You continue listening to your own audiobook while the Books Immersed app plays the accompanying Soundscape. -
Download the Books Immersed: Soundscapes app.
Open your audiobook in Audible, Libby, Apple Books, or another audiobook player.
Select the matching Soundscape in Books Immersed.
Start both and use the Follow feature to help keep the Soundscape aligned with your audiobook.
The audiobook and Soundscape remain separate, so you can control their volume and playback independently. -
The recommended way to listen is through the Books Immersed: Soundscapes mobile app.
Download the app and sign in using the same email address you used for your purchase.
Your purchased Soundscapes should appear automatically in your library.

Yes.
The Books Immersed app is free to download, and you can listen to the complete first chapter of any available Soundscape without making a purchase.
This gives you a chance to test the experience with your own audiobook player before deciding whether to unlock the full Soundscape. -
Yes.
Books Immersed is designed to work alongside any audiobook player, including Audible, Libby, Apple Books, Spotify, and other audiobook or audio apps. -
No.
The Soundscape contains music, ambience, and sound effects, but it does not include the audiobook narration or the text of the book.
You will need your own legally purchased or borrowed copy of the audiobook, ebook, or physical book. -
The app includes a Follow feature that helps the Soundscape respond when your audiobook is played, paused, or resumed.
The goal is to keep the two experiences aligned as closely as possible, but exact synchronization can vary depending on the audiobook app, device, operating system, playback speed, and the edition of the audiobook being used.
Small adjustments may occasionally be needed. The Soundscape can be paused, resumed, or moved forward and backward independently whenever necessary.
Synchronization is designed to be as smooth and reliable as possible, but it should not be treated as a perfect synchronization in every app or on every device. The Soundscapes are also designed to work and be forgiving in these “slightly off” synchronization scenarios. -
Headphones provide the best experience and make it easier to hear the full detail, positioning, and separation within the audio mix.
The Soundscapes use immersive Dolby Atmos audio where available, and they can be played through phone speakers, stereo speakers, headphones, home theatre systems, and other playback setups.
The audio will adapt to the system being used. -
Yes, but the Soundscape must first be downloaded inside the app.
Soundscape files can be large because they contain high-quality immersive audio. The exact size varies by book and chapter.
It is best to download a Soundscape while connected to Wi-Fi and make sure your device has enough available storage.
Once the required files have been downloaded, you can listen without an internet connection.
Preview access may still require an internet connection when the files have not yet been downloaded. -
A purchase unlocks the complete Soundscape in the Books Immersed app and access to downloadable Soundscape files through Google Drive.
The mobile app is the primary and recommended way to listen but the files are yours to save on purchase. -

AI is not and will not be used in the creation of the Soundscapes.
The music, ambience, sound effects, editing, timing, mixing, and overall creative production are created and assembled by hand by Jordan Rannells. -
No.
Books Immersed and the Soundscapes created by Jordan Rannells are independent projects.
They are not officially affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or produced in partnership with the authors, publishers, audiobook publishers, estates, studios, or rights holders associated with the original books.
The Soundscapes are separate companion works and do not include the original book text or audiobook narration. -
Yes.
You can play a Soundscape while reading a physical book or ebook.
Because everyone reads at a different speed, the timing may not always align perfectly.
You will usually move ahead of the Soundscape rather than fall behind it.
When that happens, pause your reading and continue listening until you hear a recognizable cue, then resume from that point.
Exact synchronization is not required to enjoy the experience. -
